Easy Homemade Dog Treats

easy homemade dog treats

Many dog owners make homemade treats to demonstrate the love of their dogs or to use them as motivation during their training.

Dog treats made in your kitchen can be simple or complex. Some only take about a minute to use cooked, packaged or leftover raw foods and a minimum of ingredients, while others require preparation and mixing of various ingredients, followed by cooking or cooking.

Let's start with the simplest products that contain only one ingredient.

Meat specialties

  • Cut into small pieces hot dogs or salami sausages make homemade treats for dogs much easier. If you are worried about your health, look for the low-sodium organic type. They are particularly well placed in a plastic bag and distributed during training.
  • Frozen raw chicken wings can be used as individual treats for large dogs. They also help keep the teeth of a dog clean. (Raw chicken bones look good on dogs - it's the cooked type that can break and cause problems).
  • Raw Bark or Oxtail bones are also a good treatment to keep the plaque on your teeth. The size of the bones varies from about two to four inches in diameter and so they can be fed to dogs of all sizes.
  • Remains of cooked meat can also be cut and fed, and they can also be useful for training.
  • Our German shepherd mix, the comet, often contains dried pieces of meat when we go on a hike. It's hard to keep your nose off our backpacks when we sit down!
On a fruit or vegetable basis

You can call these treats for homemade dogs almost FREE, as it is likely that your dog eats only a small portion.

-Individual fruit slices and berries are things that you want to try with your dog. The comet consumes apple slices almost daily and sometimes eats pieces of bananas, mangoes, melons, oranges, peaches or strawberries, blackberries and blueberries. Be careful with raisins and raisins, as too many of them can cause kidney failure at the same time.
-Often spoons of cooked yam, green beans, peas, lentils, spinach, carrots, potatoes and pumpkins are prized. Keep some of these vegetables after the meal so your dog can be treated healthy the next day. Be sure to crush them first.

Milk or egg

-Heap of yogurt, cottage cheese, cream cheese or sour cream often mix like slices of all cheeses.
-You can also use pieces of boiled eggs or a very decent raw egg to give your dog the impression that he is getting something special. An advantage is that eggs help the skin and coat of a dog.

Simple combinations

A simple recipe for homemade treats with dogs is the assignment of items that are an extension of the above.

-For example, you can put peanut butter or cream cheese in each of the fruits.
-Also remember to add a liver vinaigrette or salad (just enough to flavor) to the fruit, sliced cheese, boiled eggs or pieces of meat. I would recommend peanut butter without sugar and, if possible, without sodium.

Although you can feed dogs with bread, crackers, whole grains, rice and pasta, it is best to feed them in very small quantities as your digestive system is not designed to handle carbohydrates. If your dog also eats brittle, he / she will likely get more than enough of this group of foods. Another problem with some of these foods is that they tend to stick to your teeth and contribute to tooth problems if you do not brush your dog's teeth afterwards.

These are some of my ideas for simple homemade dog treats. If your dog is not used to a particular type of food, try a very small amount first to make sure that there is no allergy.
